Meet KTG: The Collective Creating Music With No Boundaries
KTG, the musical project led by Katie G (Katie Gandy), returns with a new single “eeaao (I Do),” capturing the weight of being pulled in every direction at once. While it’s impossible to be everything, everywhere all at once (the meaning behind the song’s title), we think everyone, everywhere should be listening.

For Katie, the inspiration hit closer to home than most. Katie spoke on juggling the workflow of life, bills and becoming a homeowner after inheriting her late father’s house, the same man who first introduced her to music. “He used to just strum around on guitar and [he] taught me a few things in the beginning.” Growing up in Chapin, SC, she recalls playing guitar and singing with her neighbors and close friends as early as age 8.
Three projects and a new single later, she attributes KTG’s most recent sound to creating music with no boundaries alongside her co-producer Paul Nederostek. “Working together with our brains like that, it’s been really nice to see what comes out of it.” With an eclectic range of influences from Ariana Grande and Hayley Williams, to John Mayer, Grimes and the Beatles, the no boundaries approach makes perfect sense.
An effortless feat for a multi-instrumentalist of her caliber, moving with ease between keyboard, guitar, and viola—though the voice remains her favorite instrument.

Outside of catching her live at venues like Scratch N’ Spin and Cat’s Kettle, you might find her at the skating rink with friends, a pandemic hobby that found its way into both her latest and upcoming music videos, both shot by Jenna Desmond.
We wrapped up our conversation with a few “Southern Details” questions we ask every artist we feature:
Q: Favorite Southern Dish
A: Mac and Cheese
Q: Favorite local restaurant
A: Transmission (Columbia, SC)
Q: City that shaped you the most
A: “Chapin, South Carolina — where I’m from. […] I went to school there and learned a lot about what people are and how different I was, especially making music.”
Q: What do you want your Southern Legacy to be?
A: Community and people
Q: Advice to your younger musician self
A: “Don’t be scared [...] it’s all art, it’s supposed to be real, it’s supposed to be true to you.”
With their next single “Liquid” on the horizon, we’re eager to see what boundaries KTG crosses next. Follow KTG on Instagram to keep up with upcoming shows and new music: @ktg.jpeg.
